We are the data controller for the personal data we process through our solar production forecasting platform.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: Email address and password (hashed) when you create an account.
  • Forecast Data: Location addresses, system specifications (capacity, tilt, azimuth), and forecast parameters you provide to generate solar production estimates.
  • Branding Information: Company name, logo, address, and VAT number if you configure branded PDF exports.
  • Payment Information: Processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details directly.
  • Usage Data: Forecast counts, API call records, and session data for service operation.
  • Contact Information: Name, email address, and message content when you use our contact form.
  • Technical Data: IP address, browser type, and device information collected automatically for security (including reCAPTCHA verification).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve our solar production forecasting services
  • Process your subscription payments through Stripe
  • Generate and deliver PDF forecast reports with your branding
  • Respond to your enquiries and provide customer support
  • Monitor usage and enforce service limits (forecast quotas, API rate limits)
  • Protect against fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access
  • Send service-related communications (account updates, billing notifications)

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under UK GDPR, we process your data based on:

  • Contract performance: To provide the forecasting services you have signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests: To improve our services, prevent fraud, and ensure platform security.
  • Consent: For optional communications and where required by law.
  • Legal obligation: To comply with applicable laws and regulations.

5. Data Sharing

We share your data only with the following third parties, as necessary to operate our service:

  • Stripe: Payment processing (subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy).
  • Google reCAPTCHA: Bot protection and abuse prevention (subject to Google's Privacy Policy).
  • Mailgun: Email delivery for contact form submissions.
  • External Data Providers: Solar irradiance and meteorological data services (no personal data shared, only location coordinates).

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and forecast history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., billing records). Cached external data (irradiance, weather) is retained temporarily for performance and expires automatically.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted passwords (bcrypt hashing), secure session management, HTTPS encryption, and API key hashing (SHA-256). Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never stored on our servers.

8. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request erasure of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Restrict or object to processing of your data
  • Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)

9. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies for session management and authentication. We also use Google reCAPTCHA, which may set cookies for bot detection. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies for marketing purposes.

10. International Transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions, to protect your data in accordance with UK GDPR.
